Mini-reunion held at the farm home of
Sy and Gloria Mendenhall, Near Oil Trough, Arkansas
November 8th through the 10th, 1989 (About 5 months following the VF-6 Chicago reunion) a Mini-reunion
was held at the farm home of Sy and Gloria Mendenhall, near Oil Trough, AR.
In addition to our hosts, Sy and Gloria, those in attendance were: Hank and Elbess Landry, John and
Mary Jane Stan, Willie and Sue Callan, and Hersch and Bonnie Pahl.
We enjoyed each others company and good food in their home and in several other local settings, but
nothing much was done about planning for another gathering at that time.
This 3 day event was recorded on many photos; however, only the two best ones as seen below have
been selected for insertion into this story of the VF-6 Mini reunion at the Mendenhall home...

A "Reunion Planning" Mini-Reunion takes place
at Guston's
Resort, White River, near Bull Shoals Dam, Arkansas,
March 23-24, 1991
Almost two years later on March 23 -24, 1991, another "Mini- VF-6 Gathering" was held at
an Arkansas resort, "Guston's Resort on the White River, located just below the Bull Shoals Dam. This gathering
was for the specific purpose of planning for the next VF-6 Gathering.
While in Chicago there was some talk about our 50th anniversary reunion possibly being in Pensacola,
Florida. So we took it from there and decided for sure, that the next one would be held in Pensacola, hopefully
with more pilots and their wives expected to be there.
This planning session or gathering lasted for two days and we all had a real good time in a beautiful
setting with plenty of good food.
There we strongly reaffirmed our desire to get the old gang together again to observe our 50th anniversary
as well as to visit and recall old times and continually rekindle the old VF-6 camaraderie.
Sy Mendenhall accepted the task of being our host or sponsor to make all arrangements, schedule,
etc.
We let Mark Maxwell know of our decisions, as we knew that he would continue communicating everything
to everyone via his very important newsletters. We knew that he was continuing his efforts to find or locate more
of our "lost" buddies.
Those present at the Guston's Resort on the White River were: Hank and Elbess Landry, Hersch and
Bonnie Pahl, Willie and Sue Callan, Sy and Gloria Mendenhall, and John and Mary Jane Stan.
