Robert B. "Bob" Locker
Bob locker with squadron on the way to the Marcus Island raid
in Aug 1943
|
Bob Locker with VF-6 in July '43 at Punnene Maui.
|
Robert B. "Bob' Locker and his wife Mary Grace, were dear friends, who served as best man and
brides maid when Bonnie and I were married in Coronado.
Before the squadron deployed. In '43, we two couples lived together in a double apartment.
Unfortunately, during a training exercise off Maui, Bob and I were involved in a mid air collision.
Both hellcats were destroyed. I managed to bail out while my dear friend did not survive. Words can not explain
or describe the heart ache and the sorrowful burden I have carried ever since then. Bob was a dear friend. I will
love him with great respect forever.

freedom has a flavor the protected will never know!"
