Reunions Page 3

"A Gathering of Eagles" Reunion -
May 3,4,5 and 6, 1989
at Mt. Prospect, Illinois,
Continued

At one time we respectfully remembered and called to mind each of our buddies who had lost their lives during and after the war. I had their names arranged in order of their demise with the circumstance as we remembered. On several there was a discussion of how when and where with various pilots providing additional first hand information.

Attendees listen respectfully to the memorial accounting.

Gradually small group visiting took over and in one group a spontaneous song-fest took over. A print out of old squadron songs was made available to those who did not remember the words.

On into the wee hours of the morning, various pilots visited with John B. Lundstrom, a noted published author. John, was interested in hearing first hand combat experiences with some guys including Dix Loesch, Al Vraciu, and those who had racked up the more impressive "shoot-down" records.

More visiting late the first night May 4, 1989. Butch's sister Marilyn visiting with Sandy Crews (standing) and John Lundstrom (author of "First Team").
